New Look has named former Matalan chief executive Alistair McGeorge executive chairman.
McGeorge will join the fashion group on May 3 and will play a key role in returning it to form after poor performance resulted in the ousting of former chief executive Carl McPhail in March.
New Look founder and interim executive chairman Tom Singh said: “With his strong background in value retailing he brings the strategic, leadership and operational skills the group needs to help it move to the next stage of its development.
“Alistair joins a dynamic top team which he will head as we work to reinforce New Look’s position as a driving force in fashion both in the UK and internationally.”
McGeorge said: “New Look is a great high street brand operating in attractive markets. I will be working to ensure that we are focused on delivering great product and the performance that our customers have come to expect of us.”
Singh will continue to work “in an operational capacity focused on product alongside Alistair” New Look said.
McGeorge led Matalan for almost four years until November last year and has previously worked at retailers including Littlewoods.
