Next has confirmed that it will participate in Black Friday for the first time this year with promotions online and in its stores.
It is understood that the Sale will launch online at 3am on November 24 – Black Friday – and will feature discounts of up to 70% on items across its departments.
The high street stalwart, which is no stranger to end-of-season Sales, confirmed the move.
A Next spokesman described its Black Friday debut as an “experiment” to see how much the event drives full-price sales and footfall.
He said: “Not everything will be marked down. The products are those that have been earmarked to go into the Boxing Day Sale.
“This will not be on the same scale as that. It’s more like a teaser.”
Some retailers have extended their Black Friday events this year, with Dixons Carphone running its longest ever Sale and Argos hosting a two-week “bonanza”.
However, M&S and Asda have turned their backs on the event entirely.
