Footwear chain Office saw like-for-like sales rise 19% for the six weeks ended January 4.
Total sales rose 30% for the retailer to £38 million over the period. Web sales were up 80%.
The strong like-for-like growth came on the back of a 4.9% uplift for the same period last year.
Office said that its performance represented a record Christmas for the business with all areas performing very strongly. Men’s footwear and sports footwear are believed to have performed particularly well. Sheepskin boot brand Ugg also put in a strong performance.
Office said that the business had continued to trade well through January and that it would report significant uplifts on sales and profit this year.
Office chief executive Brian McCluskey said “The performance over the whole of the year has been exceptional and Christmas has just taken it to a different level. Over the past few years we have developed one of the strongest teams in the industry and this success is down to them. We are well placed to meet the significant challenges 2010 will bring and are confident of another successful year.”
