Premium apparel retailer Pangaia has made its UK bricks-and-mortar debut with the opening of a new store on London’s Carnaby Street.

Founded in 2019, Pangaia proved a hit with shoppers during the Covid pandemic when demand for loungewear and apparel soared.

It deems itself a “material science company” that puts sustainability and the environment at the heart of its operations with the goal of designing products that are “better for the planet than if they did not exist”.

The new 1,500 sq ft store offers customers a selection of its premium womenswear, menswear and childrenswear.

The brand’s interior features a large blue sphere installation, designed to “symbolise Mother Earth” and give a nod to Pangaia’s earth-conscious clothing collections.

The store also houses a live planter with evergreens, perennials and herbs said to “thrive in the microclimate of a shop”.

The Soho opening also serves as an education for Pangaia shoppers old and new about its “ground-breaking materials science innovations”, emphasising its commitment to science, purpose and design.

Pangaia chief executive Nathalie Longuet said: “We are excited to open the doors of our very first standalone UK store in the cultural hub of Carnaby Street in London.

“We hope our customers will enjoy discovering our purpose-driven apparel while reconnecting with nature and finding a sense of calm in the heart of London.”

Shaftesbury Capital executive director Michelle McGrath added: “Pangaia is one of the most interesting and innovation-driven brands globally. Their flagship UK debut in Soho’s Carnaby Street underscores the district’s reputation for UK firsts, world-class experiences and sought-after consumer demographics.

“The signing highlights our approach to active curation, seeking out challenger and high-growth brands that complement the muti-dimensional nature of the area and its existing brands and restaurants, such as Aimé Leon Dore, Adidas Originals, END, Mountain, Kiln and Rita’s.”
