Peacocks owner Edinburgh Woollen Mill group has acquired the intellectual property of value retailer Internacionale, it is understood.
Edinburgh Woollen Mill is believed to have a paid a six-figure sum for the IP assets, including its trademark, customer database and website content, according to Drapers.
It is the conclusion to Internacionale’s collapse into administration in February, the second time it had to appoint administrators in eight months after the retailer’s directors said they were unable to sustain a viable business in a competitive retail sector.
As of June, all of Internacionale’s 89 stores had been closed.
IP specialist Metis Partners, which was handling the IP, confirmed the sale of the assets.
Edinburgh Woollen Mill was unavailable for comment.
