Value fashion chain Peacocks is to start selling CDs to take advantage of the gap left in the market since the collapse of Woolworths.
The 500-store retailer will sell CDs — by artists including Cheryl Cole, Lady Gaga, The Saturdays and Take That — for under £10 in 150 selected stores from this week.
The retailer will also sell accompanied by licensed t-shirts. Peacocks said that rock t-shirts are currently up 20% on the year.
Peacocks managing director Tim Bettley said: “The current trends that appeal to our fashion conscious customers are more and more influenced by the music scene. We will offer a combination of the two for customers who know and love their music just as much as their fashion.”
