Primark has announced it is to embark on an “aggressive” expansion project to grow its US store estate.
The retailer plans to grow its US presence to 60 stores over the next five years.
Primark currently operates 13 stores in the US, has a further 11 in the immediate pipeline and is set to open three in New York before the end of the year.
New York stores at Roosevelt Field in Garden City, Jamaica Avenue in Queens and City Point in Brooklyn are all set to open within the next month, which the retailer says will “kick off its growth plan” for 60 store openings across the US by 2026.
Primark US president Kevin Tulip said: “We’re excited for the future for Primark in New York, as our current stores have shown the important role we can play in the region as an affordable and inclusive retailer, bringing back the allure of brick-and-mortar.
“Whether they are shopping for their own essentials, the latest trend pieces or fulfilling loved ones’ holiday wish lists, we have something for everyone in the family and we are committed to delivering the best value on the high street.”
