Primark invested £100m in UK stores in 2024

Retail assistants in England, Scotland and Wales will see their hourly pay increase from £12 to £12.48, while staff based in London will see their hourly pay increase from £12.56 to £13.06.

The 4% rise comes into effect from April 1 and is expected to benefit around 28,000 workers.

The latest pay hike at the fashion giant means that over the past two years, Primark employees have seen their hourly rate increase by an average of 12%.

Primark confirmed its staff will also continue to benefit from a year-round 15% discount alongside other benefits.

Staff benefits include enhanced family benefits for all retail and depot colleagues such as maternity, paternity, adoption and surrogacy payments.

Primark UK retail director Kari Rodgers said: “Our colleagues are key to supporting our customers and their local communities every day in an increasingly challenging retail environment.

“We hope this increase goes someway towards demonstrating how much we appreciate their hard work and dedication.”

Primark’s latest pay rise comes amid its ongoing investment into its UK business after its £100m investment in stores in 2024, aligning with its 50th year on British high streets.

The fashion retailer is also rolling out its click-and-collect service across its UK store portfolio, with all 186 shops offering the service by the summer.
