Cornish fashion retailer Seasalt has become the latest fashion retailer to earn B Corp certification in recognition of its “founding values and ongoing progressive approach to doing business”.
Seasalt announced today that it earned the certification after achieving a score of 100.2, compared to the sector benchmark to achieve B Corp status of 80.7, as it joins a community of “like-minded organisations creating positive impact” within the industry.
Seasalt was awarded the status following a “rigorous” assessment covering transparency, accountability and continuous improvement across all areas of the business.
The Cornish fashion retailer said it is “extremely proud” to join the B Corp community and added that it marks the retailer’s “hard work that has gone into achieving the certification across the business”.
Seasalt chief executive Paul Hayes said: “Today, we’re very proud to celebrate our B Corp certification success, taking a moment to reflect on our effort and achievements so far. But we won’t be pausing here, we know there is always room for improvement and we have our focus firmly on the future.
“B Corp allows us to have an architecture for improvement and impact creation that is embedded across our entire business. With that in mind, we have lots of plans for the year ahead and beyond, and we look forward to sharing our next steps regularly with our community.”
The news comes following a bumper year of profits and sales as pre-tax profit increased from £470,681 to £6.8m for the full year to January 27, 2024.
Revenue for the year was also up 12% year on year as the fashion retailer’s store estate continued to thrive despite “external challenges” within the fashion market.
