Footwear sales at Selfridges have soared by 71% on the back of the department store’s leading Shoe Galleries area which opened in September.
Selfridges set sales projections for Shoe Galleries when it opened, but after almost eight weeks of trading the retailer is set to smash year three of its sales plan, with sales of footwear up 71% against the year, according to the retailer.
Selfridges is selling on average 7,000 pairs of shoes a week out of the Shoe Galleries and during it’s best week to date has sold 10,000 pairs.
“When we opened we started with 36 exclusive styles,” said Sebastian Manes Selfridges director of accessories. “For spring we’ll have quite a lot of exclusives - what we’re really proud of is that we have an amazing high street offer with Topshop, River Island and All Saints and an amazing offer in fashion. The consumer is recognising its a great shoe department.”
Designers selling in the Shoe Galleries include Rick Owens, Marc Jacobs and Prada.
