Sports Direct has snapped up clothing website KickBack Sports.

The deal, for an undisclosed sum, is part of founder Mike Ashley’s acquisition spree as he looks to expand his empire, according to the Sunday Express.

The retailer is planning to bring more brand names under the Sports Direct umbrella. The sportswear giant, which lost out to rival JD Sports in the race to buy outdoors retailer Blacks in January, also snapped up surfwear brand Hot Tuna last month.

A Sports Direct spokesman told the newspaper: “KickBack Sports is a good investment and it fits with our business plan.”

The retailer is expected to reveal solid third quarter sales this Wednesday with analysts forecasting a 8% jump in like-for-like sales.
