- Retail sales rise 17.9%
- Ecommerce sales climb 35%
- Margins in line with expectations
Fashion retailer Ted Baker recorded a 17.9% rise in retail sales over Christmas and is confident of continued growth.
Online sales surged 35% in the eight weeks to January 7, when the retailer also opened more international stores.
Ted Baker said the performance was achieved “despite a backdrop of ongoing external factors” affecting the markets in which it trades.
Chief executive Ray Kelvin said: “Ted Baker has continued to perform well over the Christmas period against a tough trading backdrop.
“This result reflects the appeal of the brand and the quality of our collections as well as the talent and commitment of our team.
“The strength of the brand and our multiple channels of distribution leave us well placed to continue the development of Ted Baker as a global lifestyle brand.”
During the reporting period the retailer opened more concessions in China, another store in Indonesia and its first branch in Bahrain – the latter two with partners.
