Ted Baker could disappear from the high street once and for all as administrators gear up to close all its stores in the coming weeks.

It is understood that staff at the fashion retailer, which collapsed into administration earlier this year, have been given three weeks’ notice that they will lose their jobs when the shops are closed, according to The Sun.

While the plans for store closures are yet to be finalised, a source told the newspaper that this was “the current intention” for the business.

Teneo declined to comment.

The news comes after No Ordinary Designer Label, which trades under the Ted Baker brand, filed a notice of intention to appoint Teneo Financial Advisory in March.

In April, Teneo announced the closure of 15 Ted Baker stores across the UK, which resulted in 245 job losses at the chain.

Teneo said at the time that all closing stores were loss-making and deemed to have “no prospect of being able to return to profitability even with material rent reductions”.

This included closures of stores including Birmingham Bullring shopping centre, Bristol, Bromley in London, Cambridge, Exeter, Leeds, Liverpool One shopping centre, London Bridge, Milton Keynes, Nottingham and Oxford.

Since the announcement, speculation has swirled surrounding a potential takeover of the business by the likes of Next or Frasers Group.

It was reported by Sky News last month that Frasers Group was the frontrunner in the process and sources said a deal was expected imminently, but there have been no further developments as yet.
