TK Maxx and Homesense owner TJX Europe has unveiled two major changes to its senior leadership team.
Louise Greenlees, president of TJX Europe, has been promoted to a global role as group president.
Greenlees will assume responsibility for TJX Europe, TJX Australia and the group’s global buying offices.
She will be succeeded as TJX Europe president by Michael Munnelly, who has been promoted from the role of chief operating officer.
Munnelly joined TJX Europe from Tie Rack back in 2000, initially as a merchandise planner.
He was named group director of merchandising and ecommerce in 2018, and was promoted to chief operating officer in early 2020.
In its most recent Companies House filings, published last October, TJX UK swung to a loss after being “significantly impacted” by the coronavirus crisis.
TJX UK suffered a pre-tax loss of £254m in the year to January 2021, compared with a £104m profit the prior year.
Turnover slumped 34.6% to £2.3bn as store closures battered its top line.
But TK Maxx was among the retailers to bounce back strongly when stores reopened fully in April 2021 and consumers sought value.
TJX Europe said Greenlees’ leadership had helped the business “grow successfully” across its six European markets, both in-store and online, during her time at the helm.
Greenlees joined TJX Europe as managing director of Homesense in 2010 and went on to lead the TK Maxx business. She has led TJX Europe since 2015.
