Beds retailer Feather & Black has outperformed a tough big-ticket market, posting rising sales in its first half as its multichannel offer chimed with shoppers.
Feather & Black’s like-for-likes rose 2% in the six months to April 1, when revenue jumped 10% to £14.4m. Feather & Black managing director Adam Black said trading improved in the second quarter. Since Christmas, like-for-likes soared 16%. Web sales rose 38%.
Black said strength in multichannel had helped drive sales. “Home is behind the fashion sector in real multichannel players so we have a distinct advantage,” he said.
Margin in the six-month period was up 1% point, said Black.
The retailer opened one net store in the period after opening shops in Kingston and Henley and closing one in Red Brick Mill in Liverpool One. If the retailer finds the right locations more will open.
Black said “We’re happy with the progress we’re making but we’re cautious of a capricious market place.”
