Retail Week looks ahead to the next seven days with updates from Dixons Carphone, Carpetright, Superdry, Ocado and Sports Direct.
Carpetright
The carpet retailer will report its interim results on Tuesday. Carpetright admitted it suffered from disruption caused by its CVS in its previous update but did not give like-for-likes figures, instead saying it had “remained negative” during its second quarter.
Superdry
The fashion retailer reports its interim results on Wednesday. Superdry issued a profit warning earlier in the year as the hottest summer in over four decades hit early sales of autumn/winter product. It posted an uplift in sales during its first half but reiterated it had still not seen the sustained period of cold weather it needed.
Dixons Carphone
The electricals specialist will post its interim results on Wednesday. Dixons Carphone has had a tough time of late with flat-like for likes and a redundancy round. Boss Alex Baldock will outline his strategy to overcome this challenging period, elaborating on his plans for a “truly joined up business” that can offer customers in-store expertise.
Ocado
The grocer will report its fourth-quarter results on Thursday. Ocado, which has just finalised the details of its deal with US grocer Kroger, reported an 11.5% uplift in retail sales in its third quarter.
Sports Direct
The sports specialist will post its interim results on Thursday. Investors and industry alike will be hoping boss Mike Ashley chooses to illuminate the City on his erratic strategy. Over the last half, he has acquired both House of Fraser and Evans as well as continuing to pursue the ‘elevation’ strategy at his core business.
