Retail Week looks ahead to the next seven days, with updates from Dunelm, JD Sports nd Primark on the agenda.

Dunelm

The challenged homewares retailer will report its second-quarter results on Tuesday, January 16. The business is currently without a chief executive following the abrupt departure of John Browett in August.

Former Evans Cycles boss Nick Wilkinson is set to join Dunelm in February.

JD Sports

The sportswear specialist will report its third-quarter trading on Tuesday. JD posted a 33% leap in pre-tax profits at its half years in September, driven by a 44% jump in revenue to £1.36bn.

Investors will be keen to see whether boss Peter Cowgill can deliver once more.

CPI inflation rate

The ONS will report on the Consumer Prices Index inflation rate during December on Tuesday. In November, inflation was at its highest in nearly six years, hitting 3.1%.

ABF/Primark

The Primark owner will report its first-quarter results on Thursday, January 18. Associated British Foods’ retail arm has beaten a poor fashion market so far and the market will be watching to see whether it has managed to replicate that success over Christmas.

Halfords

The cycling specialist will post its third-quarter trading on Thursday. Halfords’ profits dipped at the half-year mark despite a strong performance in its retail services division and a rise in like-for-likes.

It will be the first set of results under Graham Stapleton, formerly of Dixons Carphone, who has taken over from former chief executive Jill McDonald, who now heads up clothing and home at M&S.

Bonmarché

The specialist clothing retailer will report its third-quarter trading on Friday, January 19. Bonmarché posted a spike in half-year profits and sales as boss Helen Connolly’s turnaround efforts began to bear fruit.

The value womenswear chain said pre-tax profit more than doubled while like-for-like sales advanced 4.3% across the group.
