Greetings cards retailer Clinton Cards group like-for-likes fell 3% in the 16 weeks to November 21.
At its Clintons fascia like-for-likes fell 3.3% while rising 0.7% at the Birthdays UK fascia. However at Birthdays in the Republic of Ireland, like-for-likes slumped 14%.
The retailer said: “The Group is well prepared for the important Christmas trading period and look forward to reporting our performance in January.”
The retailer is undergoing a review of its store concept, as revealed by Retail Week in April, and said its new store design concept is “progressing well”. It is preparing to test the format in five stores after Christmas.
Net debt as at November 22 improved from £48.1m to £37.7m at the same time last year.
Clinton trades from 650 stores while Birthdays trades from 172.
