H&M’s group like-for-like sales fell 6% in April compared with the same month last year.
Group total sales at the Swedish fast fashion chain rose 4% in April as expansion fuelled growth. The figures exclude currency rate changes.
H&M had 2,037 stores on April 3 this year, compared with 1,804 on April 30 last year.
Last month, H&M reported a strong start to the year with sales up 7% to SEK 24.8bn (£2.2bn) in the three months to February 28, and profits up 42% to SEK 5bn (£451m).
