Mothercare has hired Blacks finance boss Dominic Lavelle as interim chief financial officer.
Turnaround specialist Lavelle joins Mothercare on Monday (July 9) and replaces Neil Harrington who is departing the maternity specialist on July 20.
He has been at struggling Blacks since November last year and was previously chief restructuring officer at Findel. He has previously worked at Oasis, Allders and Laura Ashley.
Mothercare chief executive Simon Calver said: “Dominic’s experience as the finance director of public companies in turnaround situations will be a real asset to Mothercare at this early and critical stage of the transformation and growth plan.”
Calver, who joined the retailer at the end of April, unveiled his three year turnaround plan for Mothercare in May. The maternity chain posted a group loss before tax and after exceptional and other items of £102.9m in the year to March 31, compared to a profit of £8.8m the year before.
