Flipkart is India’s largest ecommerce marketplace, founded in 2002 by a team of two ex-Amazon employees, Binny and Sascha Bansal. It began as a book and entertainment retailer, but has expanded rapidly to sell music, movies, fashion and general merchandise. Flipkart acquired online fashion platform Myntra in 2014. It competes with Amazon in its home market of India. In 2018, Walmart acquired a 77% controlling stake.
