Melnyk left the supermarket in December after 31 years, because of ill health. According to Morrisons' annual report, the supermarket paid her a salary of£663,000, benefits of£24,000 and a compensation package on leaving the grocer of£2.9 million, bringing her total package to£3.61 million in the year to February 4.
On March 8, Morrisons hired Martyn Jones as trading director, who took over Melnyk's responsibilities.
Morrions new brand identity and strategy will emphasise its fresh food credentials, as 'the food specialist for everyone'.
The logo has also been overhauled. Its traditional black letters have been replaced with green ones. However, the logo has retained the chain's iconic yellow oval and Morrisons wording underneath.
Rebranding will start in July with revamped advertising, fresh-food packaging and in-store signage.
In the second half of its financial year, stores will be rebranded in a phased roll-out. Carrier bags will be printed with the redesigned logo and in-store fresh food preparation will be made more visible.
