Uniqlo's UK chief operating officer Bernie Foster has left the business.
Her departure comes four months after the Japanese-owned chain hit the rocks, following a disastrous entry into the UK market.
In March, Uniqlo slashed store numbers, retaining only five of its 21-store estate. At that time, Foster said she would remain in place to steer the business back to operating profit by May 2004.
Managing director Masa Nagataki, who now heads the UK operation, said Uniqlo is committed to the UK. He said: 'I am quite sure we'll make a profit next year.'
It is understood Foster is now working for a charity.
