Former Music Zone boss Steve Oliver has been named managing director of Fragrance Shop, the 103-store perfume specialist.

Oliver set up second-hand CD e-tailer Musicmagpie.com after Music Zone hit the buffers. He said he was excited by the opportunity offered by Fragrance Shop to run a “successful, major retailer”.

He added that Fragrance Shop “has so many synergies with Music Zone in terms of its size, product structuring, required supply chain relationship and seasonality”.

Musicmagpie will continue to trade and will be run by operations manager Craig Dawson.
