One of the original Tesco executives who crossed the Atlantic to forge the Fresh & Easy business has left the retailer.
Chief marketing officer Simon Uwins, part of the original team of executives who set up the US business five years ago, has left to “pursue other interests”.
Fresh & Easy president and chief executive Tim Mason said he was “shaking up” operations at the supermarket in an internal announcement obtained by the Financial Times.
Mason, who also holds the position of deputy group chief executive and chief marketing officer of Tesco, said the business will bring together its commercial and marketing divisions into one team.
The strategy aims to bring together all the elements of the business focused on the customer together and John Burry has been appointed as chief customer officer, a new position within the business.
The California-based Tesco-owned grocer has implemented a number of changes in recent months opening its first Fresh & Easy Express convenience store, implementing new bakeries in store and rolling out a loyalty card modeled on its UK Tesco Clubcard.
