The administrators to Adams have closed a further 36 stores after reviewing the childrenswear retailer’s operations.

PricewaterhouseCoopers said that it is liasing with “a number of parties who have expressed an interest in purchasing part or all of the business and assets” of Adams, but that 36 stores have closed today. 267 people have been made redundant. A further 62 job losses were announced on Friday at the retailer’s head office in Nuneaton.

Joint administrator and partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers Rob Hunt said: “Our priorities are to work with the existing management team to continue trading the business as normal while we continue to pursue a sale.

"The recent job losses are regrettable but will place the company in a stronger position whilst we explore opportunities to conclude a sale. My team and I will be doing all we can to help the effected employees at this difficult time.”

125 stores employing 1,900 people remain open while the administrators seek a buyer for the retailer.

111 stores closed at the beginning of the year, following the retailer's collapse, leading to 850 job losses.
