Scheme matures with share price up 168 per cent
More than 900 Argos staff are to share a £13 million payout as the retailer’s Sharesave scheme matures.
Employees who bought the shares at the option price of £3.84 can sell them for £10.31, an increase of 168 per cent.
Those who saved the maximum amount in the scheme over five years will be rewarded with £28,000, on top of £15,000 in savings
The scheme was first introduced in 2001. Under the terms, employees are entitled to buy shares at a 20 per cent discount using a tax-free savings account. Staff can save between £5 and £250 a month for three or five years.
