Hobbycraft names Tesco exec Matt Davies chairman as Dominic Jordan becomes boss

Retail Week can reveal that Davies will replace Archie Norman as chairman of the arts and crafts retailer on May 1.

Davies is leaving Britain’s biggest grocer at the end of this month to pursue a portfolio career and has already secured the chairmanship of fashion business N Brown.

Norman, who became chairman of Marks & Spencer last September, will step down from the same role at Hobbycraft after four years.

As part of the changes at the top, Bridgepoint-owned Hobbycraft has also promoted its retail operations director Dominic Jordan to chief executive.

Jordan joined Hobbycraft in 2012, having spent the previous 12 years at Pets at Home, where he worked alongside Davies.

Jordan takes up the role that has been left vacant since John Colley’s sudden departure last September after just two months at the helm.

Davies said: “This is a unique business that I have followed for many years. I look forward to working with Dominic again and to working with the team to build on its success to make Hobbycraft an even greater place for crafters and enthusiasts alike.”

Jordan added: “I am excited to become Hobbycraft’s CEO to lead a business that I know to have such an exceptional team and incredible range of products.

“I look forward to working with them to drive further growth and build our customer experience in-store or online.”
