Pet care specialist Jollyes has hailed a “record-breaking” first half as it eyes the expected opening of its 100th store ahead of schedule early next year.
In a trading update for the 26 weeks to November 27, 2023, Jollyes reported like-for-like sales growth of 19%, while total sales jumped 31% to £70m, including new stores and services, as it “continued its strong market outperformance”.
The retailer also completed a £25m, three-year deal with United Petfood to grow its own-label ranges and extended a contract with Wincanton to move to a new logistics hub in Cheshire.
During the period, the retailer opened eight new stores, bringing the total number of new stores opened over the last two years to 31.
Jollyes will open its 99th store in Connswater shopping centre, Belfast, in March 2024 and its 100th store later that month.
Chief executive Joe Wykes said: “There’s no doubt we’ve had a tremendous six months, delivering for customers, our people and our shareholders.
“And, as always, behind the numbers sits the hard work of our 1,000-plus strong team as we transform this business with real pace – they continue to inspire me every day.
“But we also all know past performance is no guarantee of future success. That’s why we’re determined to guard against complacency, investing in new partnerships that will help strengthen our momentum in the months and years ahead.”
