Hamleys shrugged off London’s Tube strike troubles by unveiling its own Underground in the basement of its Regent Street flagship today.
The famous toy retailer has revamped the floor in partnership with the London Transport Museum. The fit-out features a former working Tube train that children can climb into and get their picture taken.
It also has a tunnel target board for kids to practice on toy Nerf guns.
Hamleys chief executive Gudjon Reynisson said: “Combined, Hamleys and the London Transport Museum represent 400 years of history and I am thrilled to be adding such a significant attraction to our Regent Street toy shop.”
Hamleys retail and brand director Ralph Cunningham added: “We are delighted to be the only place in London where families can enjoy the experience of being in the driver’s cab of an underground train, making a trip to Hamleys all the more exciting.
“We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with the London Transport Museum.”
