Wilko’s chief operating officer Sean Toal and the boss of its digital division Sean Emmett have both stepped down amid a board reshuffle, Retail Week can reveal.
Toal’s remit as COO will be split between chief financial officer Alex Russo and chief commercial officer Andrew Moore, who both previously held senior roles at Asda and joined the general merchandise retailer last year.
Moore will cover all commercial activities in his role, while Russo’s remit will be extended to include property, distribution and transport.
Wilko transformation director Jerome Saint-Marc, who joined the firm last May, will take on the responsibilities previously held by Emmett.
As part of his broadened remit, Saint-Marc will head up the value retailer’s ecommerce division and be tasked with driving its online sales.
Family director Lisa Wilkinson will take over accountability for Wilko’s online, retail and HR divisions as a result of the changes to the senior leadership team.
A Wilko spokeswoman said: “Sean Toal and Sean Emmett are stepping down to pursue their careers outside the Wilko family of businesses. We’d like to thank them for their contribution and support throughout their time with Wilko and wish them all the very best for the future.”
Wilko, which posted a £65m full-year pre-tax operating loss in October, has bolstered its top team with a raft of senior hires in recent months, including the appointment of Neil Feakins in the newly created role of customer insights and data director.
