Wilko has appointed former Asda executive Andrew Moore as its new chief commercial officer, Retail Week can reveal.
Moore spent almost 10 years with the Walmart-owned grocer, most recently as chief merchandising officer, prior to his departure in January.
He also spent time in charge of Asda’s George fashion business, helping to grow the label into a global brand.
Prior to his spell at Asda, Moore held a number of senior roles at Marks & Spencer, including director of general merchandise.
When Moore officially takes up his new role in December he will be reunited with Asda’s former finance boss Alex Russo. Russo joined Wilko earlier this year.
Wilko family director Lisa Wilkinson said: “Andrew’s breadth of commercial experience strengthens and complements our existing leadership team and we’re looking forward to working with him to further develop our ambition to put great product at the heart of everything we do.”
Moore added: “I’m very excited about joining Wilko. It’s a much-loved brand with a strong family-oriented culture and I look forward to working with the team to take the company to the next stage of its product-led strategy.”
