Savile Row menswear retailer Gieves & Hawkes has appointed Andrew Merriman to the new role of chief operating officer, following a recent shake up of its senior management team.
Merriman, who has joined from tie and accessories retailer Tie Rack Retail Group where he was chief financial officer, is responsible for departments such as finance, human resources and logistics. He reports directly to chief executive John Durnin.
Durnin said: “Following a review of the management structure of Gieves & Hawkes it has been decided to considerably enhance the organisation by creating a new position of chief operating officer. This role will better meet the needs of the business going forward.”
The appointment is hot on the heels of the departure of former chief executive Steven Walton, who left the business in March. Walton moved back to Hong Kong, where Gieves & Hawkes owner and property entrepreneur Christopher Chang is based, citing family commitments and UK tax and residency requirements as the reasons for his departure.
At the time product director Will Forrester was promoted to brand director.
