Moonpig.com

Moonpig.com is a great example of a pure play e-tailer that offers a convenient alternative to the high street in the greetings card market.

The product itself - personalised cards – is exceptional and reasonably priced at about£3 for a standard-sized card, including delivery. You can select from hundreds of cards, -organised effectively around different -occasions, and the purchasing process is slick.

The site offers birthday e-mail reminders – which are much more reliable than my memory. You can also store addresses from previous orders – a great time saver.

Checkout is simple, e-mail confirmation is immediate and delivery is swift. Top marks.

Foot-locker.co.uk

Foot Locker is one major high street retailer that has work to do when it comes to its online presence.

The first difficulty lies in finding the right web site for the UK customer, as the first page of Google results only gives you the US site. On the US site I couldn’t find links to the UK site and it requires -educated guesses to find the correct URL (www.foot-locker.co.uk).

When I eventually found it, the range of trainers offered was unfulfilling. Furthermore, there was no delivery information on the product pages and the store finder didn’t tell me what the opening hours were for my nearest store. Lots of room for improvement.
