Asda is launching its loyalty scheme across the country after successful trials.
Asda Rewards, which was piloted in selected areas from October 2021, is being made available in all of the grocer’s 633 branches and online.
The retailer said around 1 million people have signed up to the app-based scheme so far, which enables them to build up “cashpots” depending on their spending at Asda.
Customers are rewarded by completing “in-app missions” such as back-to-school purchases or by buying “star products”.
Cash built up can be spent by creating vouchers for redemption or through the customer’s online account.
Asda Rewards users have built up over £4m in their cashpots so far.
Senior director for loyalty Mark Baxter, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be able to give all our customers access to Asda Rewards. We know that times are tough for families right now, so it’s great to be able to reward them for simply shopping with us.”
Asda has also launched a new credit card linked to the Rewards scheme, allowing users to earn money for their cashpots when they spend.
Loyalty schemes are an increasingly important weapon in retailers’ armoury in the hard-fought grocery market. Tesco, for instance, offers lower prices for members of its Clubcard programme.
