Booker Group has revealed plans for a management reshuffle as its operations director steps down after 10 years in the role.
Bryn Satherley will leave the board and retire from the retailer and food wholesaler next April.
Instead of replacing Satherley, Guy Farrant, current managing director of Booker Wholesale, will take the role of chief operating officer from April.
Satherley’s responsibilities will be split among other members of the executive team.
Booker has been on the acquisition trail this year, snapping up convenience chains Budgens and Londis in September in a £40m deal. Last month Booker reported a 10% rise in half-year pre-tax profits amid plans to further bolster its retail business.
On Satherley’s exit, chief executive Charles Wilson said: “Bryn has done a brilliant job for Booker Group. He has decided to retire but will remain a good friend of Booker and we wish him all the very best in the future.”
Booker also announced the appointment of Gary Hughes as a non-executive director, with effect from today. Hughes is part of the team at private equity group Apax Partners and held executive posts at Gala Coral Group, United Business Media and Emap.
