Booths has unveiled plans to expand outside of the North West by selling 40 of its best-selling products in East Asia.
The upmarket Northern grocer has penned a joint venture agreement with Hong Kong-listed retailer Dairy Farm to drives its move overseas.
Under the terms of the deal, Booths will supply products including chutneys, jams, teas, coffees, flavoured water, breakfast items and healthy snacks to 19 high-end food retailers in Malaysia.
Booths has created a new export and business to business department, headed up by Henry Booth, to spearhead the venture.
Henry Booth said: “I’m very happy that British products made in the north west of England could have such a positive and enthusiastic reception on the other side of the world and I hope that the Malaysian customers will grow to love Booths’ products as much as the customers we serve in the UK.
“There is a real fondness for heritage brands in Asia, and we hope the Booths story and products will capture their imaginations.”
Booths is also poised to launch an online gifting service following the success of its Christmas hamper deliveries.
