C-store specialist Co-op and Uber Eats have announced a new three-year partnership renewal, extending delivery collaboration through Uber Direct and Peckish.
The partnership first launched in 2022 and now covers more than 1,300 Co-op stores around the UK. The new three-year extension extends the tie-up between Co-op and Uber Direct, more focused on the c-store specialist’s new app Peckish—which is dedicated to “supporting independent local grocery retailers” across the UK.
Peckish launched in February and, in a supermarket first, is available to small, family-owned, independent grocery retailers and provides them with an online grocery shopping and delivery service to local customers.
The partnership will continue to extend Co-op membership prices to Uber Eats users.
Co-op quick commerce director Chris Conway said: “Growing our quick commerce channel is a core part of our strategic approach, and I am delighted to extend and deepen our successful partnership with Uber Eats.
“Innovation is fundamental to our approach, whether extending reach and choice, creating value through member price savings, or delivering the Peckish app to give independent grocery retailers a voice online.
“We see consumer appetite for quick, easy and convenient grocery delivery continue to grow and the agreement with Uber Eats marks the start of a new chapter where we will work together to meet the evolving needs of shoppers, and to grow Co-op’s leading q-comm channel.”
Alex Troughton, regional general manager of Uber Eats Grocery and Retail UK and EMEA said: “Uber Eats and Co-op have built a strong and successful partnership, making grocery shopping more convenient than ever. We’re thrilled to extend this collaboration and introduce Uber Direct, which will allow Co-op to serve even more customers through its own digital channels while continuing to offer delivery via Uber Eats”.
