C-store specialist the Co-op has further bolstered its board with the appointment of former Ocado Solutions boss Luke Jensen.
Jensen stepped down from Ocado last year after a six-year stint as the chief executive of Ocado Solutions, the pureplay grocer’s technology arm.
He was the driving force behind helping Ocado secure several international tie-ups with grocers such as Kroger in the US, Sobeys in Canada and Coles in Australia.
He was also previously group development director of Sainsbury’s and is currently executive chair of Asian sushi-to-go food provider Hana Group.
Jensen will join the Co-op board next month as a non-executive director, at the same time that former chair Allan Leighton will step down after reaching the end of his nine-year term. Leighton will be replaced by new chair Debbie White.
The Co-op has also brought former solicitor Moni Mannings onto its board as senior independent director.
