The Co-op has struck a deal with Superdrug to supply own-brand food-to-go products as part of the health and beauty chain’s meal deals.
During a trial period, the convenience store chain will supply own-brand sandwiches, salads and fruit to seven Superdrug branches located in train stations and airports during the summer.
The travel hubs chosen for the trial include railway stations at London Victoria and Fenchurch Street, as well as Brighton and Sheffield and airports in the East Midlands, Bristol and Edinburgh.
The grocer will supply Superdrug with a range of 40 items – including vegan and gluten-free products. A spokesman for the Co-op said these products would be the “mains” paired with a Superdrug snack and drink to form a £4 meal deal.
Trading director at the Co-op Matt Hood said: “We are continually exploring new ways to bring our award-winning products closer to shoppers and to reach new customers. Becoming food-to-go partner for Superdrug is an exciting development as Co-op continues to grow its brand, further increasing the accessibility of own-brand products.
“These transport hubs provide an exciting and dynamic location to meet the shopping needs of busy consumers and offer our value and values conveniently.”
Head of personal care and convenience at Superdrug, Chris Brown, said: “We are delighted to be introducing Co-op food-to-go in some of our travel branches. We know our customers will appreciate the range available, and the fact it offers a great value choice for busy commuters and travellers.”
