Majestic Wine is investing £1m in its store estate

The UK’s largest specialist wine retailer has unveiled the opening of two new stores, including a 3,900 sq ft store in East Dulwich, London, and a 3,700 sq ft shop in Brentwood, Essex.

Majestic has also refurbished two of its stores, in Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire and Bearsden in East Dunbartonshire, as part of moves to “expand and modernise” its estate.

Both new stores will stock the retailer’s full range of more than 1,200 wines, as well as housing a dedicated fine wine area and offering a range of beers, spirits, low- and no-alcohol options, soft drinks and snacks.

Customers will also be able to use Majestic for free glass hire for occasions, free delivery from the store by electric vans and its No Quibble Guarantee, which offers exchanges of the same value for any wine that customers don’t like.

Majestic chief executive John Colley said: “Investment in our store portfolio is at the heart of our growth plan at Majestic, whether that’s opening new stores or refurbishing our existing estate.

“Landing £1m worth of investments in the space of just a week shows how serious we are about our commitment to bricks and mortar and our aim to open an average of one new store per month over the coming years.

“We are really excited about serving even more communities around the country, sharing our expert knowledge with them and helping thousands of new customers discover new wines, beers and spirits they will love.”

The stores have contributed to Majestic’s three openings during 2024 so far, following an opening in Jersey earlier this year.

The wine retailer plans to expand at an average of one new store every month over the coming years.
