Embattled grocer Morrisons is said to be close to appointing former Tesco Asia head David Potts as its next chief executive.
The beleaguered supermarket chain is understood to be in the final stages of selecting a successor to Dalton Philips, who was ousted last month.
Although Potts is the frontrunner for the top job at Morrisons, The Sunday Times said the grocer’s board was also talking to two other candidates about the position.
Potts spent 39 years at big-four rival Tesco and The Sunday Times reports that he is the ‘frontrunner’ for the high-profile role.
The interview process is being led by chairman and former Tesco finance director Andy Higginson, who was parachuted into Morrisons early following a slump in Christmas trading.
