Naked Wines has named Rodrigo Maza as its new chief executive as Rowan Gormley moves back to his former non-executive chair role.
Maza is being promoted internally from his current role as Naked’s UK managing director, which he has held at the business since 2023.
Naked said that, since joining the business, Maza had “quickly demonstrated his strategic capability and business acumen” and will “work side by side” with Gormley.
Prior to joining the specialist wine retailer, Maza worked for AB InBev’s TaDa Delivery in Latin America and PerfectDraft in Western Europe. He has also held various executive roles at Grupo Modelo and AB InBev.
Naked said it “greatly valued Maza’s contribution to the business and welcomes his future leadership”. It added: “He has been working closely with Rowan and the executive team to define Naked’s turnaround strategy.”
The wine specialist also announced the appointment of former chief operating officer Emma Kamel to succeed Maza as general manager of the UK.
Gormley said: “We are delighted to welcome Maza as CEO designate. In his short time with us, he has proven his ability to energise his team to get Naked back on the growth path, and his previous experience has a compelling combination of entrepreneurial start-ups and big company best practice, both of which we are going to need.”
Maza said: “I’m honoured and excited to accept the role of CEO designate at Naked Wines. The value that Naked delivers to its customers and winemakers is clear and provides a solid foundation to build on.
“I look forward to working with the team across Naked and getting this amazing company to achieve its full potential.”
