Sainsbury’s adds more products to Aldi Price Match campaign

The supermarket now has more than 400 products in its price match scheme, with new additions including a range of ‘By Sainsbury’s’ soups, burger buns, bread and Bramley apple pies.

With food inflation starting to slow, Sainsbury’s said it is committed to passing on savings to customers and has lowered the price of popular products ahead of the back-to-school period.

By Sainsbury’s 250g British butter has been reduced by 10% since May, while cheese, fish fingers and toilet paper have also been lowered in price.

Nectar Prices have been made available on frozen foods for the first time. Customers can get Nectar Prices on over 5,000 products in-store and online, with new deals including up to half price on Birds Eye fish fingers, Goodfella’s thin margherita pizza and Linda McCartney original sausages. 

The launch of Nectar Prices in April has meant Nectar customers have saved over £244m. 

Sainsbury’s also announced it is expanding its Pocket Friendly Prices campaign to 55 products across most of its convenience stores.

Chief executive Simon Roberts said: “We’re continuing to do all we can to battle inflation and as costs fall, so do our prices. We’re passing savings on as fast as we can, wherever we can, so that customers get the very best prices when they shop with us.”
