Supermarket group Sainsbury’s has named MasterCard executive Mark Horgan as marketing director.
Horgan, who is also a former marketing director and strategy director of MFI, takes up responsibilities formerly held by Gwynn Burr, who moved the role of customer colleague and colleague director in July 2010.
He will start at Sainsbury’s within the next six months, join the operating board and report to group commercial director Mike Coupe. Horgan will be responsible for customer insights and loyalty, brand communications and non-food marketing.
Coupe said: “Mark has a fantastic background working for some of the world’s high profile brands and the expertise needed to develop the brand and to be a great success at Sainsbury’s.”
At present Horgan is managing director of MasterCard’s Access Prepaid Worldwide subsidiary.
