Sainsbury's reshuffles senior management team

Retail and logistics director Roger Burnley takes up the role of managing director of general merchandise, clothing and logistics leading the grocer’s non-food business.

Convenience director Helen Buck becomes retail director responsible for performance across Sainsbury’s supermarket estate. 

Fresh and frozen business unit director Simon Twigger will take up the reposnsilbility for Sainsbury’s Local as convenience business unit director.

All will report directly to chief executive Justin King, with Roger Burnley and Helen Buck also continuing to serve on the operating board. The new roles will begin on March 19, the start of Sainsbury’s financial year.

Strategy director Kevin Barrett will become director of space and formats and Dave King moves to lead the retailer’s team in China, replaced by Richard Fleming as logistics director.

Divisional directors Charlotte Rhodes and James Bailey will be promoted to the positions of business unit director for fresh food and business unit director for dairy, frozen and ready meals respectively.
