Tesco is leveraging its 800,000-plus fans on Facebook by launching a promotion encouraging customers to ‘share’ any of its products on the social network in return for double Clubcard points.
Tesco’s Share & Earn promotion, which launched this week as part of a four week trial, encourages its followers to ‘like’ any product from the Tesco website. A link to that product is then added to the user’s Facebook wall, allowing them to share the product with their friends.
Customers can earn double Clubcard points if they go on to buy the product themselves or if their friends do. Shoppers must first add the Tesco Direct Share & Earn Facebook app through its Facebook page or its Direct website.
Tesco marketing director for general merchandise online Matthew Entwistle said: “More and more of our customers are using Facebook to chat about and recommend products they like from Tesco direct.
“And we know our customers also like to collect extra Clubcard points, so we’re really pleased to offer them a fantastic way to do both things at the same time. It’s our way of saying thanks for supporting us online.”
