Tesco is to price match Aldi on hundreds of grocery products as it bids to win back market share from its discount rival.
The supermarket giant is slashing prices on a host of own-label and branded goods from today, in a strategic shift designed to ensure its customers are “saving themselves a trip” to Aldi or Lidl.
Tesco said the Aldi Price Match campaign, which will run online and in stores, includes “important” products such as packs of bananas, whole cucumbers and Warburtons Toastie sliced white bread.
Tesco’s Finest premium ranges will not be included in the campaign but a selection of its entry-level ‘Exclusively at Tesco’ lines and other own-brand items will be price matched to the equivalent Aldi product.
