Waitrose is to trial opening its Little Waitrose convenience shops at Shell petrol stations.
Waitrose will open two trial sites at Watford and Bayswater in London, and if successful it could open around 100 Little Waitrose shops at Shell sites. Waitrose has had a supplier partnership with Shell since 2009.
Waitrose managing director Mark Price told The Sunday Telegraph: “This is part of our movement to get Waitrose products in front of many more people. Our research suggests there are 6-7 million people who would like to shop at Waitrose but live too far away from our shops.”
Price said the stores will feel like a Waitrose, not a petrol station.
