Grovelands sells to Dobbies for £5m

Garden centre chain Dobbies has bought Reading garden centre Grovelands for£5.05 million.

The acquisition includes an online business with sales of£2.1 million, as well as the seven-acre garden centre with sales of£4.2 million.

Dobbies already has an internet cut flower service.

Dobbies chief executive James Barnes said: 'Grovelands provides us with an opportunity to develop an online strategy, with an already established market presence complementing the web-based cut flower service we have already launched.'
